All’s Well That Ends Well”-Myth or Marvel?

--

Dear readers, what do you prefer to-either narrating yourself or experiencing one? You may say-both are two halves of the same coin. But is it really so? Before exploring this idea, let me to draw your most usual statements-“All’s well that ends well”. William Shakespeare, a world famous poet, playwright & actor in English literature is the wonder of wonders in the literature and had the pleasure of 38 plays, 2 narrative poems, and 154 sonnets along with versatile literary fragrance to enrich the domain of creativity. All’s Well That Ends Well” is a creation of Shakespeare in the early of seventeenth century. But the title has become a proverb that sings the saga of everyday life and destiny. The article intends to explore in different dimensions of life and tries to oversee the strength of the proverb in the avenue of science. Before this pleasure, let me introduce some of the incidents where anyone of us has the pots of experience since time of infancy to the destiny of life. Gone are the days of our childhood but some memories even can bubble in the solitude of balcony. Fear to Mathematics in schooldays cannot be ruled out in most of the children. The day of the publication of examination result was a day of more perspiration and sweat not only for marks but also for the ruler of parents. The events took place as usual with unhappiness. But at the end of the day, the grandmother love and upper hands to parents make the end of the day with full of cheer .Very often, Cadbury was a bonus from the mother added another flavor at night. The love and hugging along with the Cadbury brings a sensation of pleasure and blows feeling of happiness that can cause the erosion of wound of bad words and storms. What will you say-All’s well that ends well. Is it? Feeling of motherhood is an awesome experience to ‘every would’ be mother. But to give birth of a child either by natural method or scissoring is undoubtedly a traumatic experiences particularly those women who going to give birth of a child at the first time. Obstetricians as well as pediatricians know the trick to minimize the agony and pain of the pregnant mother. Many women undergo unbearable torments during childbirth. After going through this painful experience at once, no same women would ever agree to do so again. However, at the end of the painstaking road, the mother got first relief after the smile of the child. After a few days at the end of labor, the hormonal system of endocrines secretes cortisol and beta-endorphins that is quite enough to reduce the pain and secretes a pleasure of relief and sometimes even elation. In addition to these coordination, another strong bond of love towards the baby and acclaim from family members, religious dogmas, appreciation from friends and other close to canopy transform the childbirth from a terrible trauma into a positive memory in long lasting RAM(Random Access Memory of our brain as brain is thought as mega computer) of brain. What will you say? All’s well that ends well. Let me explore other traumatic experiences of some patient suffering from gastrointestinal disorders. Any diagnosis of disease is not generally a pleasant experience. In colonoscopy, a tiny camera is inserted into the intestines through anus in order to observe the various condition of the alimentary canal. Mostly doctors want to handle the entire procedures in the least painful way. The question comes whether it should be done more distress for shorter duration or they should work more slowly to minimize the pain shorter duration. Mostly the patients prefer to long colonoscopy with little pain in the last stage. The ends well become to some pleasant than the overall pain level experienced. So, sorrows and sufferings are unavoidable in every life. But the experiencing the self and narrating the self are completely different entities but both are intertwined to each other. The experiencing self is our every moment consciousness and it is impossible to add slightly unpleasant experience will make the entire drama more appealing. But narrating self evaluates our experiences and it accounts of the duration and it remembers the peak movement and the end moment. So, for sufferings of any untold events, the self experiencing will prefer shorter duration but narrating self will prefer the long one by following the peak at the episode followed by the rejuvenation. Life comprises a lot of events where the experiencing self is less important than the narrating self. We have the choices of our partners, careers, residences, holidays, children education etc never allows to experience them before undergoing any experiences. For your weekend vacation, if anybody asks your choice of destination, you surly prefer to the destination where history talks a more and this will become a sauces for narrating oneself in comparison to others despite the mind blowing experiences gather by himself or herself. In the social perform like face book and Instagram, you will find more content of narration that become the symbol of appetite than the other stories having the pleasant of unpleasant experiences gathered by the voyager. Come back to the story of the William Shakespeare comedy-All’s well that ends well. Helen heals the King of France, and the King grants her permission to marry Bertram, the man she loves. Bertram rejects her and leaves a list of tasks that she must do to have him acknowledge their marriage. She follows him to Italy, completes all the tasks, and Bertram accepts her as his wife. Despite the hectic works done by Helen, the end was well as she able to reach the destination. Narrating self to Helen was more adorable then the sufferings experienced by her. The destination was more important good narration has overruled the experiencing self. The most important beauty of the life is the unchanging beauty of the identity of individual from birth to death that conveys the message of the possessions of clear & consistent inner voice for the meaning to the entire universe. But the concrete technologies armored with highly sophisticated devices, tools and structures that does not offer any allowance for the free will of the individual. Can we stop this flood by the narrative of democracy, free market and globalization along with the urge of human rights?

( The author expresses deep sense of gratitude to Pro. Y.N. Harari to explore this beauty)
